Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of BETA, a service provided by CaliKo ("we," "us," or "our"). By installing, accessing, or using BETA, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use BETA.

2. Description of Service

BETA is a web application and Slack integration that provides AI-powered company research, news summaries, financial data, and strategic analysis. Features include:

  • Company intelligence lookups via web app or Slack
  • AI-generated summaries from 147 curated news sources
  • Financial data from government APIs (SEC, FDA, etc.)
  • Strategic analysis (SWOT, competitive landscape)
  • Automated scheduled lookups

3. User Obligations

You agree to:

  • Use BETA for lawful purposes only
  • Not abuse, harass, or overload our systems
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer or compromise BETA's security
  • Not resell or redistribute BETA's output without permission
  • Comply with usage limits for your subscription tier

4. Subscription and Payment

4.1 Trial Period

New users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. You will not be charged until the trial period ends.

4.2 Personal Plan ($19/month)

After the trial, the Personal plan includes unlimited lookups, strategic analysis, and automated scheduled updates. Billed monthly ($19) or annually ($149) via Stripe.

4.3 Payment Terms

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance
  • All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
  • Price changes will be communicated 30 days in advance
  • Failed payments may result in service suspension

5. Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial periods.

6. Data Accuracy and Liability

6.1 No Guarantees

BETA provides information "as is" without warranties. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of news summaries, financial data, or AI-generated analysis.

6.2 Not Financial Advice

BETA's output is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial, legal, or investment advice. Consult professionals before making business decisions.

6.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BETA and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to lost profits, data loss, or business interruption.

7. Service Availability

We strive for 99% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may suspend service for maintenance, security updates, or emergency fixes without notice.

8. Intellectual Property

BETA's code, design, and branding are proprietary. You may use BETA's output for your own business purposes but may not resell, redistribute, or claim ownership of BETA's technology.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to BETA at any time for violations of these Terms, abuse of the service, or other reasons at our discretion.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via Slack or email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes will be resolved in California courts.
